Leadership Development

Collaborative leadership is considered a critical management practice for thriving in complex, technology-driven environments. It shifts the focus from traditional top-down control to a model of shared responsibility, where leaders work across boundaries to involve all team members in decision-making.

FALL  YOUTH SUMMIT

Open to Juniors and Seniors of all public and charter schools in the Align region.  Through this one day of intense activity and learning, attendees think, engage, move and retain what they learn by revisiting group dynamics in a new way.  Programs include self-awareness through personality strengths, team building through interaction, cooperation and trust, and embarking up on servant leadership.  Financial literacy instruction assists the attendees with preparation for major financial decisions. Upon completion of the summit, each person receives a $500 renewable scholarship from Indiana University Southeast.

MINI YOUTH SUMMIT

A follow-up to the fall event, where students re-engage with attendees of the fall event while diving deeper into topics discussed.  This half-day event is another high energy, focused on collaboration, to further the understanding of working together with all individuals.

These events are a collaboration with host sponsor Indiana University Southeast, Junior Achievement, ULEAD and sponsored by First Merchants Foundation.

By involving team members from different departments and experience levels, organizations can tap into a “collective intelligence” that yields more innovative solutions than a single leader could produce.  When barriers between silos are broken, employees at any level—such as administrative staff—may identify critical issues and propose creative fixes that experts might overlook.
